Remove the pan from flame to add your rum. Never bring the bottle to the stove; the flame could go right up the bottle and then it's Chef Flambé. Add your rum t the pan from a separate glass then return pan to flame. Pan should flame up; this is the alcohol burning off, leaving only the rum flavor.
