How to Install a Door Threshold
Sometimes the smallest upgrades make the biggest difference in your home. Eric shows you how to replace a worn-out door threshold.
Step 1: Over the Threshold
Sometimes the smallest upgrades make the biggest difference in your home, such as a worn-out door threshold. Here’s how to replace one. First, remove the screws in the current threshold and score it with a utility knife.
Step 2: Carbon Copy
Use a crobar to remove it and use the threshold as a template for the new one.
Step 3: Smooth It Over
Mark the new threshold and cut it to size with a jigsaw, and use a metal file to smooth the edges.
Step 4: Blow a Gasket
Screw the new threshold down, run some caulk over the edges, and put the weatherstripping gasket in place.
