Step 2: Pop the Collar
Find the collar of the branch, the bulbous area a few inches away from the trunk. Cut about one inch away from the collar, so the tree can heal itself and stay healthy. If you cut the tree right at the trunk, disease can enter it and kill the tree.
Step 3: Sling Blade
Spray lubricant on the blade of your saw, so it glides easily.
Step 4: High Up
For taller trees, you can use an extendable tree pruner to reach the higher limbs.
