Repurposing Everyday Items
There are many ways to repurpose everyday items into dazzling decor pieces for your home. Here, Sabrina Soto shows you how to take ordinary objects and make them into functional decorative pieces with a personal touch. Putting a little bit of yourself into your projects can make all the difference.
Window Frame Displays
An empty window frame is a beautiful way to display a mirror or photos. Use multiple photos for a layered collage look, securing them with a piece of rope and tiny clothespins. Alternatively, you can blow up a favorite photo, and keep it in place with a piece of board and mirror clips on the back. Another idea is to have a mirror custom cut to the size of the frame, keeping it in place the same way.
Wine Crate End Table
An old wine crate can do double duty as an end table, simply by placing a tray on top. You can find the crates at flea markets, but wineries and wine stores are known to give them away for free. Just make sure to sand down rough patches to avoid splinters.
Step Ladder Flower Display
To bring the outdoors in, plant flowers in colorful pots and display them on a weathered step ladder. An old ladder may not be safe to support your weight, but the distressed look will give character to any room. You can use the ladder display in your home, on your porch, or in your garden.
