How to Make a Coat Rack

Featured pro:
Category: Home Decor

Antique furniture inspired Carter Oosterhouse to create this great coat rack project. With a few decorative knobs, the wood drawer fronts are repurposed to make an eye-catching coat rack for your entryway. The decor expert demonstrates two looks here, but you can get creative with other kinds of hardware to get the aesthetic you're looking for.

Step 1
Separate the drawer face from the drawer. Paint if necessary. Remove any handles.

Step 2
Cover holes with a knob of your choice. Consider using drawer pulls or water spigots -- whatever you fancy. Attach with screws.

Step 3
Use two screws around the center that are 1/2 an inch longer than the drawer face.

Step 4
To mount, install wall anchors that are spaced to match your two longer screws. Tighten screws and you'll be ready to hang your coats instantly.
