How to Carve a Pumpkin With Power Tools

Pumpkin carving is a favorite Halloween pastime, but there are ways to make your jack-o-lantern the best one on the block. Here, Carter Oosterhouse shows you how to use power tools to create unique designs, while offering additional tips on how to work with round surfaces.

Step 1
Wet a paper towel and wipe water on your stencil to let it mold to the pumpkin.

Step 2
Tape the stencil to the pumpkin

Step 3
Trace the image onto the pumpkin by poking holes along the lines.

Step 4
Peel the stencil off. If you can't see the outline, take a marker and connect the dots.

Step 5
Use a drill to get perfect holes and a different Dremel bits to shave down the skin.

Step 6
Change bits to define areas even more.

Step 7
Clean off the excess and enjoy!
