Framed Memory Board

Featured pro:
Category: Home Decor

If you have an old window lying around or see one for sale at a flea market, here's a creative way to reuse it. With Carter Oosterhouse's helpful tips, you can make a wonderful decorative box to showcase your treasured memories, and put them on display for all to see.

Step 1
Measure the length and width of your used window. Build a box for it with 3/4-inch prime pine. Use 1/4-inch plywood for the back of the box. Use hinges to attach the window to the box.

Step 2
For the inside of your box, cut a piece of cork board and a 1/4-inch thick piece of luon to size. Stretch fabric over and put tape on the backside. Insert into the box. Use adhesive if it's not tight enough.

Step 3
Fill your box with memorabilia. Carter recommends big push pins to secure your items.

Step 4
Install a magnet on the door to keep the door of your memory box shut when it's hanging.

Step 5
Use a French cleat to mount your box to the wall. Enjoy!

Sorry I didn't get back to you til now. If the glass is 1/4" thick, you can frame it and put legs on it and you have a coffee table. If it is thinner, get a piace of plexiglass the same size, put it under the glass, frame together...same thing but stronger.

Good luck.
