Step 1: Contact!
Using varying shades of wood grain contact paper create a marquetry effect on a blank canvas. Start by covering your canvas with a neutral grain then using a slightly darker shade, cut 4 one inch wide strips to create a border next add the various pre-cut shapes to create your vision.

Step 2: Hot Glue
Use household items like rope and a hot glue gun to create 3 threed dimensional artwork. Design a pattern then simply affix your materials to your canvas---be sure and cover all your canvas. Voilà...art!

Step 3: Paint Chips
Not that kind... the little sample cards from the paint store. Find the colors you wish to use then slowly accumulate enough of them to use for your art. Lay them sidewise and connect them together using Scotch tape. Frame your creation behind glass and let them all wonder!
