Decorating With Bold Colors
From fashion to design, green is oh-so-in right now, and there are plenty of ways to incorporate the bold color into your home decor. Here, Sabrina Soto shows you how to experiment with different shades -- like kelly green, seafoam and green apple -- to find what suits your style. As the trends change, you can use these same tips to alter the personality of any room.
Apple green is a playful color that's perfect for your living room. Complimentary colors are grey, navy, tangerine and white. Choose mod shapes for lamps, and mod patterns for throw pillows.
Emerald green equals instant glamour. Try creating a small desk nook with pops of color in a writing book, chair and jewelry box, which can double as storage. Complimentary colors are pink black and grey, while mirrored and crystal accents work well, too.
Blue-green offers a vintage feel, since it was very common back in the day. It works well with burlap, white marble and driftwood. Painting your wood dining chairs is an easy and non-committal way to incorporate the color. Kitchenware is another great way to get in on the trend. Try adding vases, candles and apothecary jars to layer the look.
