How to Transport Food

Featured pro:
Category: Cooking

Curtis Stone clues you in to his trade secrets on the best ways to transport your food without a fuss.

Step 1: Good Containers
Make sure and use good containers, you don’t want lids popping off and your food spilling everywhere. Also use ice and hot water to chill or pre-heat your cooler or thermos.

Step 2: Cold
If your meats are shrink wrapped leave them in the wrappers. Always put meat in first just in case it drips. Put some plastic ice blocks on top of the meat; they not only chill the meat, they act as a good base for the rest of the contents.

Step 3: Hot
Put your soup or chili in a thermos, and then place in the center of your insulated bag. Surround the thermos with crumbled up newspaper creating a hot box. Store whatever items you don't mind be warm, like bread, in the same bag.
