How to Cook Perfect Bacon
Curtis Stone shares his sizzling trade secret to cooking perfect bacon, whether you pan-fry it or bake it in the oven.
-
Step 1: Bacon Types
There are a variety of bacon types to choose from: thick-cut or thin cut, smoked or non-smoked, naturally smoked vs. liquid smoked, and with or without sodium nitrite. Sodium nitrite is a preservative and coloring additive that may be a health risk.
-
Step 2: Never Cook Bacon Naked!
Bacon's wonderful but it can be messy to cook in a pan with the grease spattering everywhere. Try cooking it in the oven. Heat your oven to 350º -375°. Get two cooking trays, cover one with kitchen paper and lay your strips down, cover the bacon with a second sheet of kitchen paper. Place another cooking tray right over the top this will keep in the heat and keep your bacon flat.

ANOTHER good/great way to fry bacon is in the microwave oven. Be sure to cover with a paper towel to keep the splatters at bay. A "special microwave skillet" is made especially for this purpose. It is IDEAL! It is ramped for grease run-off and has built-in "grills" for non-sticking and a trough to catch the grease. I've been using mine for 28 years, and it is still as good as new. It only takes a few minutes to cook a half-pound of bacon.. I LOVE it.........you will too........(I'm SURE!) ~~DAVEEN

BUT what is the difference of those 3 or 4 bacons being showed? Why was it panned with 2 pans? How to time it in different ways for different purpsoes? Therefore the show still needs to be subtitled! Thanks.

You CAN, however, smother said fireball by closing the oven door. Or so I've heard. X-D
