How to Peel and Core Pineapple

Featured pro:
Category: CookingCelebrate Summer

Curtis Stone shows you that with the right knives and a few simple steps, you can turn whole pineapple or whole melon into sliced, presentation-ready fruit without those tough skins.

Step 1: Melon
Put your melon on your cutting board and cut off top and bottom.

Step 2: Skin
Set the melon on one end, and with a sharp knife, work your way around the melon removing the skin.

Step 3: Seeds
Once the skin is removed cut the melon in half, use a large spoon to scoop out the seeds. Then cut off the ends.

Step 4: Slices
With the ends removed the melon will now be in a nice shape ready for slicing. Slice and serve.

Step 5: Pineapple
Using a serrated knife, cut the pineapple in the same manner as the melon.

Step 6: Skin
Set the pineapple on one end, and with your serrated knife, work your way around removing the skin.

Step 7: Core
Once the skin is removed, cut the pineapple into quarters, and then make a diagonal cut to remove the core.

Step 8: Slice
Use your Chef's knife to cut into slices.

Don't be so cheap. Buy a pineapple corer and you'll be done in 3 minutes without any hassle.

I don't usually watch things like this, but this was really helpful. Pineapple has always been difficult for me to cut, and now I think I can do it better and cleaner.( Same thing with the cantaloupe melon) Both are better and easier ways to cut fruit. THANKS A BUNCH.
