Featured pro:
Category: CookingBBQ and GrillingFlavor and Spice

Sam Talbot shows you how to make homemade BBQ seasoning that's easy to whip up and easy on your wallet. By using a mix of brown sugar, turmeric, blackening seasoning, cumin and other spices you can find at your local supermarket, you can create a delicious dry rub that packs a ton of flavor and is fine-tuned to your taste.

Step 1: Spices
Mix together equal parts of your spices into a bowl. Feel free to add more or less of the ones you like to fine-tune the blend to your taste.

Step 2: Mix It Up
Make sure your spice blend is mixed well. Get rid of lumps using a skewer.

Step 3: Toasty
Throw your seasoning into a hot pan and toss gently for about 30-45 seconds until you can smell their aroma.

Step 4: Rub Your Bird
Take your toasted spices and coat your chicken breasts evenly.

Step 5: Coat
Add a little bit of olive oil on top of the coated chicken breasts.

Step 6: Low and Slow
Place chicken breasts on your grill. Make sure to cook them on indirect heat with the cover down using the slow-and-low method.

Step 7: Chow Time!
Once your chicken is cooked through, plate with a grilled heirloom tomato or side of your choice for a healthy and delicious summer meal.
