Healthy Snack Alternatives

Category: CookingHealthy Foods

Snacking can be a dirty word to people who are trying to watch what they eat. Fortunately, snacking doesn't have to be a hazard if you make healthy tweaks to the snacks you love. Ditch the deep-fried dippers and bake up some pita chips. Say so long to sour cream-based dips and switch to light, adaptable yogurt. It's easy to snack healthy with Curtis Stone's trade secrets.

Step 1: Pita Chips
Eliminate the fried corn chips by making your own chips. Break apart some pita bread, lightly coat both sides with some olive oil, a bit of salt and pop in the oven for 7- 8 minutes at 425º.

Step 2: Dips
Stay away from the sour cream-based dips by using probiotic yogurt-- mix in some diced cucumber, garlic and fresh mint for a wonderful tzatziki dip.

Step 3: Go Crunchy
Try snacking on granola, trail mix and chopped veggies with your dips; they taste good and they're good for you!

Items You'll Need for this GMC Trade Secret

  • 1 package Pita Bread
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 2 cups Probiotic Yogurt
  • Granola

  • Bag of Chopped Veggies
