Forbidden Foods Done Right
Sam Talbot knows a thing or two about living a healthy lifestyle, but he still craves comfort food like chips and burgers. Here, he shows you how to create a good-for-you alternative to potato chips using kale, and offers up a lamb burger recipe that will be your go-to from this day forward.
Sam Talbot's Lamb Oregano and Feta Burger
Sam Talbot's Kale Chips
-
Kale Chips - Step 1
Take fresh kale leaves and discard the stems if they're too hard. Cut into thirds. Big pieces are okay since they shrink down after being baked. Place in a bowl.
-
Kale Chips - Step 2
Sprinkle sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper and olive oil on the kale and gently toss, making sure there are no dry spots.
-
Kale Chips - Step 3
Place kale on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Spread evenly. Grate parmesean cheese on top. Bake at 325 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until crispy.
-
Lamb Burgers - Step 1
Shuck and chop fresh oregano and add to lamb meat. Add diced red onion, fresh garlic and feta cheese. Mix and shape into 5oz - 6oz patties.
-
Lamb Burgers - Step 2
Grill on a pan with cooking spray for three and a half to four minutes per side. You don't want to overcook your burgers or they'll turn leathery, so shoot for medium rare/medium.
-
Lamb Burgers - Step 3
Build your burger by using a toasted bun, baby romaine, roasted tomatoes, red onion, or whatever you desire. Sam suggests a spread of kalamata olives, mayonnaise, salt and pepper and lemon juice, if you prefer. Apply on both sides of the bun.

What planet is that guy from? To begin with, he uses ground lamb, a meat nortoriously high in fat. If that's not bad enough, to add insult to injury, he adds lots of feta cheese. Huh?? Doesn't he know that feta is a high-fat, high-salt cheese? Then, instead of broiling the lamb burgers on a wire grate so that the fat drips off the meat, he fries them on a griddle. And all of this he considers healthy? How on earth does somebody like him have the nerve to post such a video and make such outrageously erroneous claims? And I'm disappointed that GMC Trade Secrets would offer this nonsense to viewers. Shame on you, GMC!

I love, Kale, Mustard Greens, Spinach, Turnip Greens, Broccoli.....these all could cause Kidney Stones. So....as good as they are....they are not for me. Kidney Stones in pain level rank as high as giving birth....Good Luck to all who dare to eat Kale Chips

I love a healthy burger too but I use either ground chicken breast or ground turkey breast. Lamb has too much cholesterol for me. Put the burger on a whole grain bun with mustard, spinach (instead of lettuce), a slice of cheese, some onion, mushroom and pickles! Delicious and very healthy!
